Nozzles for Pro PCTG: Hardened, High-Flow, Diamond, and 0.2 mm

John Schneider

Do I need a hardened nozzle?

Not for standard Pro PCTG colors; they aren't abrasive and print fine on brass. You do need a hardened nozzle for Matte Black, CF10, GF10, and Glow in the Dark. See Which Pro PCTG filaments are abrasive?

Our profiles assume stock, standard-flow nozzles

Hardened steel, tungsten carbide, diamond-tipped, and high-flow nozzles conduct heat differently. If you use one:

  • Expect to raise temperature, often 5–10°C for hardened steel.
  • Recalibrate pressure advance. This matters even more on high-flow nozzles.
  • With high-flow or split-channel nozzles (such as CHT), print fast and keep the plastic moving. Slow printing and ironing let plastic sit in the heat and degrade.
  • Bambu Lab process profiles are tuned for the standard nozzle option. If you select a high-flow nozzle type, copy the standard speeds and adjust from there.

Nozzle sizes

  • Pro PCTG works from 0.2 mm up to large nozzles.
  • 0.2 mm: print hotter (270°C or more) with max volumetric speed around 1 mm³/s. Our Bambu 0.2 mm profiles use a PETG base because Bambu Studio doesn't allow PCTG on that nozzle.
  • Fiber-filled filaments: 0.4 mm or larger. Fibers can clog a 0.2 mm nozzle.
