Matte Black gets its finish from a small amount of carbon fiber, which also adds stiffness and can reduce warping on large parts.
- Hardened nozzle required.
- Use the Matte Black profile, not the standard Pro PCTG profile. Matte Black profiles.
- Calibrate pressure advance separately. The fiber changes the value.
- Nozzle buildup is more common with Matte Black, especially on tall prints with supports. Slow down and lower acceleration first. See Nozzle buildup.
- Bridges: reduce Bridge Flow to about 0.9; around 270°C and 10 mm³/s (0.4 mm nozzle) with low cooling works well.
- Dry it: fiber-filled filament can show moisture effects sooner.
- Toughness: carbon fiber adds stiffness, not impact strength.
