Feeding Fiber-Filled Filaments Reliably

John Schneider

Fiber-filled filaments are stiffer and grippier than standard Pro PCTG, so friction in the filament path matters more.

  • Shorten PTFE runs and remove tight bends.
  • Avoid feeding straight from a dryer with a high-drag outlet.
  • Make sure the spool turns freely and feeds smoothly, not in jerks.
  • Check extruder gears and tension.
  • Keep max volumetric speed at about 6–8 mm³/s on a 0.4 mm nozzle. Larger nozzles may go higher; calibrate to find the limit.
  • Use a hardened nozzle, 0.4 mm or larger.

If a spool keeps clogging after these checks, contact us with the spool label so we can check the lot.
