Sticks, Coils, or Spool: Which 3D Clean Format?

John Schneider

3D Clean comes in several formats in 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm. The material is the same in all of them.

Format What you get Best for
Tube of 8-inch sticks 50 sticks (1.75 mm) or 35 sticks (2.85 mm), about 25 g, with desiccant Printers with easy access to the extruder
25 g coil A continuous length, fed externally Enclosed printers and printers that need a long length to load
100 g coil A larger continuous length Frequent material changes. Hand-wound, so it's rarely in stock.
1 kg spool (1.75 mm) A full spool Print farms, multi-material setups, and AMS use

Sticks

Sticks were our original format, designed when extruders sat only a few inches above the nozzle. Feed a stick through, then either feed your next filament in behind it, or push the stick as far as you can, reverse it out, and toss the remainder.

Coils and spools

A coil lets you feed 3D Clean without opening the printer or reaching the extruder.

Some customers love keeping a spool loaded in an AMS slot so 3D Clean is always ready for material changes. In our experience that isn't the most practical way to use it, but it works.
