High-Flow, Small, and Large Nozzles

High-flow and split-flow nozzles

Many high-flow nozzles, such as the Bondtech CHT and E3D's high-flow designs, have internal features that split or reshape the melt path. A cold pull doesn't work on these. The cast can't come back out through the narrow section above, so you either snap off the tip or risk damaging the nozzle.

3D Clean is the better choice here. It flows into the chamber, fills it, and purges out through the tip.

Small nozzles (0.2–0.25 mm)

Everything you purge has to fit through the tip. A 0.3 mm chunk of carbonized material passes easily through a 0.4 mm nozzle, but it can't get through a 0.2 mm nozzle. Our advice: keep a dedicated small nozzle for each material instead of switching materials through it.

Large nozzles (0.6–0.8 mm)

Larger nozzles are often high-flow designs, because people using them want maximum throughput. Check your nozzle's internal design before attempting a cold pull. When in doubt, purge with 3D Clean instead.
