Honest answer: if you print the same material day in and day out, you don't need a regular 3D Clean schedule. Running some through during your general printer maintenance is fine, but it may not be necessary.
When to use it
- Every time you change material types through the same hotend, even just a little.
- When going from a sticky color to a light one.
- After filled or abrasive filaments.
- When you suspect a partial clog. See Spotting a partial clog.
Multi-toolhead printers
On printers like the Bambu Lab H2C, if each toolhead runs the same material every time, those toolheads rarely need purging. Use 3D Clean when you reassign a toolhead to a different material.
Cardboard spools
Cardboard spools shed dust, especially in an AMS where filament feeds and retracts constantly. That dust can end up in the hotend. A purge will often bring it out.
