Bed Adhesion, Warping, and Removing Prints

John Schneider

Pro PETG has very little warping. Most adhesion problems come from bed temperature, first-layer height, or a dirty plate.

Prints won't stick or corners lift

  1. Wash the plate with hot water and dish soap, rinse it thoroughly, and dry it with a clean paper towel.
  2. Raise the bed temperature toward 80°C.
  3. Check the first layer. It should be slightly squished, not round.
  4. Add a brim to parts with sharp corners or a small footprint.
  5. Dry the filament. Wet PETG prints poorly from the first layer up. See Drying and storage.

Prints stick too well

PETG can bond very strongly to smooth PEI, and occasionally pull up pieces of the plate's surface. Textured PEI releases PETG more easily. On smooth PEI, a thin layer of glue stick works as a release layer. Let the plate cool fully before removing prints.
