PET-CF is our highest-heat, stiffest filament. Here's when it's the right choice.
Choose PET-CF when the part needs
- High heat resistance. Its service temperature is 125°C without annealing. It's the only material we make that beats ASA's heat resistance without annealing.
- Stiffness. A tensile modulus of about 9 GPa makes parts very rigid.
- Dimensional stability in humid places. PET-CF absorbs far less moisture than nylon, so parts hold their size and strength.
- Low warping. The carbon fiber keeps large, flat parts from curling.
Good uses include jigs, fixtures, tooling, brackets, component housings, functional prototypes, and automotive parts, including parts under the hood.
Consider something else when
- The part needs to absorb impacts or flex. PET-CF is stiff, and annealing makes it more brittle. Pro PCTG is much tougher.
- You want a fiber-filled material that prints cooler. See Pro PCTG-CF and Pro PCTG-GF.
- Your printer can't reach at least 290°C or doesn't have an all-metal hotend with a hardened nozzle.
