PET-CF FAQ

John Schneider

What nozzle do I need?

A hardened, abrasion-resistant nozzle, 0.5 mm or larger, on an all-metal hotend.

What temperature should I print at?

290–310°C. Hotter prints have much stronger layers. See PET-CF print settings.

Will it print on a Bambu Lab P1S?

Yes, with a hardened nozzle.

Do you have slicer profiles?

They're in progress, but they're a lower priority for us. Until then, start from a PET-CF or PETG-CF profile and use our recommended settings.

How hot can PET-CF parts get?

The datasheet lists a 125°C service temperature unannealed. Annealing raises heat resistance substantially. See Annealing PET-CF.

Is it better than nylon-CF?

For humid environments, often yes. PET-CF absorbs far less moisture, so it holds its dimensions and strength.

How much carbon fiber does it contain?

15% by weight.

Do you make 2.85 mm PET-CF?

No. PET-CF is available in 1.75 mm only.

Should I purge before switching to or from PET-CF?

Yes. A quick purge with 3D Clean keeps leftover plastic and fibers from causing partial clogs.
